October 2016

Autumn is a time for reflection, kicking leaves around and Harvest Festival celebrations. The village of Horley held their very own ‘Horley Harvest Festival’ and the Red Lion pub, Horley, selected Let’s Play to be the lucky local charity to receive the fantastic amount of £315.00 raised in the process. Thank you so much!

During the summer ‘Let’s Play’ was lucky enough to be selected to take part in the Banbury vote for the ‘White Stuff Charity Partnership’. Congratulations to BHYP who were the successful charity selected who work tirelessly supporting young homeless people in Banbury. Let’s Play was grateful for the opportunity to take part and this week we were bowled over once again when the White Stuff Foundation very generously sent us a cheque for £250.00 to thank us for our part in the selection process. Thank you to everyone involved!

On Saturday 8th October Natalie Marques, a Let’s Play Session Leader and Play Worker, opened the doors to a 2016 joint fundraiser for Oxfordshire ‘Sands’ (Stillbirth & Neonatal death charity) and ‘Let’s Play’ at St Mary’s School, Banbury.Natalie said “I’ve organised the ‘charity party’ to mark what would have been my daughter Bella’s 3rd birthday. If our daughter had survived she would have needed 24-hour care.After losing Bella, I wanted to do my bit to help those families whose children need around the clock care. The funds will help provide the rest and support these families deserve.Firstly a huge thank you for everyone who came to support our event.Thank you to all the Let’s Play staff, my family and friends for their hard work- we are very proud to announce we raised £2000 so each charity will receive £1000 each.

September 2016

Congratulations to all our amazing and fantastic Wolf Runners who completed their 10k obstacle run on Sunday 4th September, they all did amazingly well. So far over £3000 has been raised but the total is still rising……. Thank you to everyone who took part and everyone who has donated so far. August 2016

Banbury National Citizen Service Team held 3 great event to help raise funds for Let’s Play. This included a 10 mile sponsored walk leaving Banbury Hub and walking to and around Broughton Castle, Car Wash at Banbury Hub and a Family Fun Day at Banbury Hub. The team did amazingly well and raised over £400, Big thanks to Georgia Russell, Savannah Roberts, Jessica Salt, Emily Bell, Becky Paterson, Yemi Akinyemi, Michael Culkin, Megan Moriarty, Ifran King, Lucy Kopcokova and Eve Walters.

Fairytale Farm in Southcombe, Chipping Norton, are had their third Sci Fi weekend on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th August and are very generously collecting for Let’s Play! Thank you so much for choosing to support Let’s Play.

Victoria Rojahn did amazingly well and did the Great North Swim in aid of Let’s Play. Victoria wanted to give back to the charity and her target was £900 – so far she has smashed her target and has raised a huge £1000. We all want to say a massive thank you to Victoria for choosing to complete this brave challenge in aid of Let’s Play and the money raised can go toward updating play resources for the young people. Thank you so much to Mr Brown and all those involved with the St George’s Day Bash held at Woodgreen Leisure on 23rd April 2016. The Let’s Play Project was chosen as one of the charities the donations would be split between and we are very grateful and honoured to be chosen. Thank you so much as the event raised £750.00 for the Let’s Play Project and donations like these help supplement the work we do.

Thank you so much to staff and pupils at Sibford School who raised over £720 for the Project. Thank you so much for your continued support and amazing efforts to raise money for Let’s Play, we appreciate all your hard work.

February 2016

On February 21st Mandy Rhymes ran her first half marathon in Wokingham in aid of Let’s Play. We would like to thank Mandy so much for choosing this brave task to help raise money for the charity. Thank you so much to Ella’s Fund who have donated £1000 to spend on new play resources for the young people. So far thanks to this amazing donation we have bought some new 2 and 3 wheel scooters, sensory equipment, CDs and a fire pit which the young people love. Thank you so much for such a generous donation.

On the Friday 15 January Niall Kingsnorth and his friends from the Banbury Academy joined forces and held a cake sale to raise much needed funds for Let’s Play.Rich from the Let’s Play Project said “The essential funding allows us to buy new facilities, equipment, funding towards day trips, and even additional staffing. The money raised is a life line for us and gives all the young people within Let’s Play the accessibility to new resources enabling them to have fun and gain new life changing experiences. We would like to thank Niall, his friends and all the students and staff from Banbury Academy for their kind support.”
