Lisa Moulder is running the Oxford Half Marathon on October 9th for Let’s Play…
We caught up with Lisa to see how her training is going……
I haven’t always been into running and it all started in February 2015 when I agreed to do the Wolf Run, a 10k obstacle run, with the Let’s Play team. Since then I’ve joined Hook Norton Harriers Running Club and have continued my training with weekly Parkruns at Spiceball Park, Blaster Runs in Bicester, two 10kms runs and the Banbury 5-mile race which I completed in 50 minutes & 58 seconds. There were some tough hills but for the first time ever I thought ‘YES! I can do this!’.
Some days I lace up and I wonder how I will ever manage 13.1 miles! Then I think about the young people who will benefit from my efforts and I find the determination and remember a really useful quote I read ‘believe & achieve’.
In the last month I’ve picked up an injury and pulled my muscle around the top of my hamstring and glute so have been easing off the miles and spending a lot of time with my foam roller and in gym sessions. It’s nearly fixed, which is good, as this Sunday I’ve got my next race the Adderbury 10k. My hay fever is bad at this time of year which makes breathing much harder but I know that by October that will be gone.
After the Oxford Half who know where next year’s challenge could take me?! You don’t have to be super-fast or super-skinny to run!
Be inspired, go for your dreams, believe in yourself, and do your best – that’s all anyone can ever ask!
