The Let’s Play Project need your help…..
Please read below a statement from Oxfordshire County Council:
“Over the past 10 years the county council and NHS in Oxfordshire have worked together to develop a range of services for children with disabilities. Services have been developed in response to changing needs, new statutory frameworks, engagement with parents, carers and children, and in response to opportunities for central government grant funding. At the forefront of this joint working was the joint commissioning of Barnardos residential care services for children in 2007.
That contract with Barnardos and the current short breaks contracts are coming to an end in March 2017. At the same time there is a requirement for the Council to achieve significant savings across many areas of service provision and the NHS needs to address increasing overspends in the same services. The particular savings to be made in services for disabled children, young people and families is £250,000 from a budget of £4million.
As part of the re-commissioning process, we now need to look at how we can redesign the short breaks and respite care services so that they can meet the needs of as many families as possible, recognising that they may need to be different from the current services.
We want to involve as many key people as possible in this redesign process. As a key stakeholder, we would welcome your views and involvement early on in the process.”
Please complete this online consultation, it gives parents/carers an opportunity to voice their views on the changes to disabled children services that will result from the budget cuts, which could ultimately impact on Let’s Play’s funding and services we can offer in the future.
Let’s Play will be re-tendering to provide disabled children services over the summer period, your support in feeding back your views now on this questionnaire is crucial and will be much appreciated by all the staff here at Let’s Play who work so hard to provide high quality activities your young people.
